Kilmore meeting abandoned due to state of the track

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise that the last six races of today’s meeting at Kilmore Racing Club have been abandoned after some jockeys expressed concern over the condition of a section of the racetrack.

Following feedback received from jockeys riding in race three, RV Stewards, club officials and senior jockeys inspected the track between the 500-metre mark and the 350-metre mark, with some sections identified as being softer than other areas.

Remedial work was carried out by club officials and the rail was also moved out, before jockeys re-examined the affected section. A jockey vote was held, with the decision subsequently taken to abandon the meeting under RV’s raceday track safety inspection procedure.

RV’s racing operations department will review the upcoming program to determine whether any of the remaining races, which include the bet365 Kilmore Cup (1600m), can be re-scheduled for a later date.

In line with RV’s abandoned meeting policy, the connections of any horses due to run in races four to nine will be paid a compensation fee.
