Drouin Boxing Day picnic meeting abandoned

Racing Victoria (RV) and Drouin Picnic Racing Club regretfully advise that the Drouin Boxing Day Picnic Raceday has been abandoned due to issues with the track.

The Club advised RV that there are two sections of the course, the track crossing on the home straight and the back straight, which are unsuitable for racing.

The Club indicated that these sections will not recover in time for their Boxing Day meeting, so in the interests of participant and equine safety the decision was made to abandon.

A range of other Victorian picnic clubs were explored as options to take the Boxing Day meeting, however none were able to facilitate the event around the Christmas period.

The RV Racing Operations team will look to divide races where necessary at picnic meetings throughout late December and early January to accommodate any horses impacted by the Drouin abandonment.
