About

Beau Vite was a champion New Zealand bred racehorse, winning 31 races in 60 starts between 1938 and 1942. His feature race wins included an Auckland Cup, ten contests at Royal Randwick, two Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington and two Cox Plates at Moonee Valley. Starting the 1940 Melbourne Cup - the second of his three Cup starts - as the shortest-priced favourite since Phar Lap, Beau Vite like his predecessor would attend the race under armed guard, finishing fourth despite an attempted shooting five days prior. Retiring to stud in New South Wales, Beau Vite sired the winners of several major races.
