Victoria’s exciting Country Cups Series will continue to play out across the Easter long weekend with opportunities to score valuable points at Warracknabeal Racing Club, Kerang Turf Club and Stawell Racing Club. 10th Race Trial Update
Racing Victoria (RV) has today announced that Saturday metropolitan meetings will revert to nine races for the months of June and July. This follows a successful trial which commenced in August 2023 and has provided significant insights into the benefits of a 10th race at these meetings. The trial of 10-race cards, which will continue through to May, has generated increased revenue and opportunities for more trainers and owners to earn prizemoney and race in the city on a Saturday. Vale John Russell
It is with sadness that Racing Victoria (RV) acknowledges distinguished racecaller John ‘JR’ Russell on the news of his passing at the age of 93. Russell’s career in racing spanned more than 50 years and included the calling of 20 Melbourne Cups between 1977 and 1997, as well as being a long-standing racecaller on both 3UZ (now RSN) and Sky Channel (now Sky Racing). Born in Warrnambool in 1931, Russell was the youngest of six children by 22 years.
