RAD Board - Patrick Pilley

The Racing Appeals and Disciplinary (RAD) Board has today dismissed apprentice jockey Patrick Pilley’s appeal against a conviction of careless riding, whilst allowing his appeal against the severity of the penalty.

At Moe on Tuesday, 22 November, apprentice jockey Pilley was found guilty of a charge of careless riding on his mount He’s Henry in the Stirloch BM58 Handicap (1014m).

The careless riding being that near the 100 metres he permitted his mount to shift in tightening the running of Our Jovanna, resulting in rider Ibrahim Gundogdu having to take hold of the mare.

Mr Pilley had his permit to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 23 November 2016 and to expire at midnight on Wednesday, 30 November 2016 – a total of 8 race meetings (1 metro, 7 provincial).

In assessing the penalty Stewards were of the view that the carelessness qualified for the low range and took into account his record.

Mr Pilley’s penalty has been varied to a period of suspension that will now expire at midnight on Saturday, 3 December 2016 - a total of 6 race meetings.
