RV Stewards' Report - Cross Counter Update
On Sunday, 14 October the Charlie Appleby-trained Cross Counter suffered a minor setback in his preparation for the Melbourne Cup, after he sustained a laceration to his left fore limb which required veterinary attention.
Racing Victoria (RV) stewards can advise that Cross Counter is currently restricted to light walking duties at the Werribee International Horse Centre (WIHC) until Friday 19 October. The stable has advised that on the weekend the horse will walk and trot, with a view to resuming regular training on Monday, 22 October.
Cross Counter’s progress will continue to be monitored by veterinarians over the coming days and an update will be provided.
Cross Counter currently sits in 18th position in the order of entry for the Lexus Melbourne Cup (3200m).
