Following a successful ‘Summer Series’, the program, which features fun and informative activities that connect youngsters with horses and racing, has been extended to five different racecourses over five days during the April school holiday period.
The Saddle Up Autumn Series will operate from 8.30am to 5.30pm over the following dates and locations:
- Tuesday 9 April – Moonee Valley Racing Club
- Wednesday 10 April - Cranbourne Turf Club
- Thursday 11 April - Geelong Racing Club
- Tuesday 16 April – Werribee Racing Club
- Wednesday 17 April – Mornington Racecourse
The Saddle Up School Holiday Program is a fun and engaging program which provides a range of horse-related activities for primary school-aged children.
The Autumn Series will showcase a range of activities for each child, including learning how to ride a horse on the grounds of some of Victoria’s most iconic racecourses.
In an exciting first, kids will be able to meet some of racing’s leading race callers, including Racing.com’s Matt Hill, Adam Olszanski and Terry Bailey, and hear about what it takes to commentate on a big race, as well as trying to call their own race.
Kids will meet a jockey and a thoroughbred horse for pre and post-race demonstrations in the mounting yard, as well as design their own noodle horse, jockey colours and goggles to compete in the ‘Saddle Up Cup’.
Kelly Sports will lead a number of horse-themed sports activities, ranging from jockey soccer and horse hockey to tail tag and much more.
Parents in attendance can have their photos taken with their children and a prestigious trophy.
All activities are facilitated by RV and Kelly Sports at a cost of $80 per child per day including GST.
