Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise that the Ecycle Solutions Murtoa Cup meeting abandoned today will be rescheduled to Sunday, 13 October 2019.
RV Stewards, in consultation with the Murtoa Racing Club (MRC), determined that a section of the track near the 300 metre mark was unsuitable to race on today and abandoned the meeting in the interests of safety.
A burst water pipe had created a wet section on the track that was deemed unsafe for racing and unable to dry in time for the race meeting to proceed today. The MRC is working to rectify the issue in time for next weekend.
With the Manangatang and Hamilton Cup meetings scheduled in the state’s west on Saturday, 12 October, RV will review the racing program and advise of any changes to the Murtoa Cup program on Monday, 7 October.
With today’s meeting abandoned, new fields will be drawn up for the Murtoa Cup meeting with nominations to open on Monday.
