Racing Victoria (RV) advises that the Aidan O’Brien-trained Wichita has sustained a fracture to its right hind leg in trackwork at the TAB International Horse Centre this morning.
The horse completed its morning work and returned to its box where the injury was detected.
RV and stable veterinarians are currently assessing the horse’s injury to determine the appropriate management plan.
Wichita’s primary target during the Spring Racing Carnival was the Group 1 Kennedy Cantala (1600m) on 31 October for which nominations are yet to close.
The horse will not be nominated for any races and will remain confined to its box under veterinary care.
