Veterinary Report - Super Girl

It is with sadness that Racing Victoria (RV) confirms that Super Girl has been humanely euthanised as a result of injuries sustained during the running of today’s Bendigo Cup (2400m) at Bendigo Racecourse.

Super Girl sustained injuries to its near fore leg in the early stages of the race and was pulled up after travelling 400m. Her rider, Jordan Childs, was not injured in the incident.

The mare was immediately attended to by the on-course veterinarian, before being transported to the Bendigo Equine Hospital for further assessment. Owing to the prognosis, the decision was made by veterinarians to humanely euthanise Super Girl.

The incident has been referred to the RV Veterinary Services Department for their review.

RV extends its condolences to the Middlemis family who owned the horse, trainer Josh Julius, his stable staff and all who cared for the horses who are greatly saddened by their loss.
