Curtain falls on Premier Race Series at Caulfield

The curtain comes down on the 2018/19 VOBIS Gold Premier Race Series on Saturday, 27 July, when Caulfield hosts the final three legs of the lucrative program.

The VOBIS Gold Ingot (1400m), VOBIS Gold Reef (1600m) and VOBIS Gold Stayers (2400m) will all be held on Bletchingly Stakes Day, the final metropolitan meeting of the 2019/19 race season.

Last year’s VOBIS Gold Stayers was taken out by Self Sense, who could be set for the 2019 Stella Artois Caulfield Cup (2400m) after earning his place courtesy of victory in the Ladbrokes Mornington Cup (2400m).

Worth $180,000 each in prizemoney and Super VOBIS bonuses, the trio of quality contests are the final acts of the 18-race series which carries a combined $4.45 million.

With the introduction of the new $500,000 race for three-year-olds which will be run on Victorian Owners and Breeders’ Race Day next year, the 2019/20 Premier Race Series will offer a total of $4.65 million in prizemoney and bonuses. The new Premier Race Series opens with the VOBIS Gold Star at The Valley in October.

VOBIS Gold nominations are now open for 2017 born foals. To ensure your horse is eligible for the VOBIS Gold Premier Race Series, be sure to nominate before the Friday, 30 August deadline.
