Kids encouraged to Saddle Up this summer

Following the success of the September edition, Racing Victoria’s (RV) Saddle Up School Holiday Program will return in January with an expanded summer series which will take in visits to Melbourne’s three metropolitan racetracks and a debut stop in Geelong.

In conjunction with the Victoria Racing Club, Moonee Valley Racing Club, Melbourne Racing Club and Geelong Racing Club, RV will present the ‘Saddle Up Summer Series’ from Monday 14 January to Thursday 24 January, 2019.

Operating between 8.30am and 5.30pm across two days at each racing club, the program for primary school-aged children will offer a range of fun and informative activities that connect youngsters with horses and racing.

The children will get up close and personal to a thoroughbred horse, and learn from a leading jockey on how they prepare for a big race. They will also design their own jockey colours in readiness to compete in the coveted ‘Saddle Up Cup’.

All activities will be jointly facilitated by RV and Kelly Sports at a cost of $80 per child (including GST).

The Saddle Up Summer Series will be run on the following dates:

Monday 14 January 2019 (Flemington Racecourse)
Tuesday 15 January 2019 (Flemington Racecourse)
Wednesday 16 January 2019 (Moonee Valley Racecourse)
