Wangaratta abandoned due to poor air quality

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise that today’s meeting (Monday, 23 December) at Wangaratta has been abandoned due to poor air quality.

Conditions were clear on Sunday evening, however, smoke haze from fires burning in New South Wales entered the region during the morning with current air quality described as very poor.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has advised that the air quality will deteriorate further throughout the day making it unsuitable for racing. EPA Victoria have also advised people in the area to remain indoors.

Trainers are advised that horses from today’s abandoned meeting at Wangaratta can be entered as original entries until 3pm for the Cranbourne Night meeting on Friday December 27, the Moonee Valley and Stony Creek meetings on Saturday, December 28 and the Mornington meeting on Sunday December 29.
