RV Stewards' Report - Kane Harris

Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards have received a report from Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) confirming that a prohibited substance has been detected in a urine sample collected from the Kane Harris trained racehorse, Monsters Inc.

The report relates to a post-race urine sample taken from Monsters Inc subsequent to the gelding winning the Triple M Gippsland BM64 Handicap 1000 metres at Moe Racecourse on 16 October 2020.

RASL reported that the urine sample was shown to contain Salbutamol (a medication that opens the airways in the lungs), which is a prohibited substance when detected in a sample taken on race day in accordance with the Australian Rules of Racing.

The Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) also reported that it had detected Salbutamol within the reserve portion of the urine sample.

RV Stewards initially informed Mr Harris of the irregularity on 23 November 2020 and has been advised of the confirmatory findings and that the Stewards are continuing their investigation.
