It is with sadness that Racing Victoria acknowledges the passing of Pakenham trainer Sharyn Peters.

Peters, 66, was issued a Victorian trainers’ licence in 2002 having previously held a licence in New South Wales for a number of years.

She trained 50 winners throughout her career with Prince of Justice and Carolina Kid her most successful horses.

Sharyn also spent time in America in the late 1980s where she was a training assistant for top trainer Carl Nafzger. In her last year with Nafzger, Unbridled won the Breeders’ Cup Classic for the stable.

RV Chief Executive, Giles Thompson, said: “On behalf of the Victorian racing industry, I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Sharyn’s family and friends following the sad news of her passing.

“Sharyn was a popular member of the Pakenham racing community and will be deeply missed amongst the training fraternity.”
