VOBIS program receives $7.5 million Boost

Owners will be further rewarded for racing VOBIS eligible horses in Victoria from Monday, 1 August 2022 with the introduction of the VOBIS Sires Boost.

Victoria’s acclaimed owner and breeder incentive scheme, which includes Super VOBIS, VOBIS Gold and VOBIS Sires, has been expanded to welcome VOBIS Sires Boost – a $7.5 million scheme to promote reinvestment in Victorian progeny.

The VOBIS Sires Boost is a joint initiative between Racing Victoria (RV) and Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria (TBV) and is supported by the Victorian State Government through the Victorian Racing Industry Fund (VRIF).

The program aims to reward those who breed, buy, own and race in Victoria and encourage reinvestment in the Victorian breeding industry.

The VOBIS Sires Boost comes in the form of $30,000 in vouchers on offer to the connections of eligible winners in each of 250 races across the 2022-23 racing season.

All VOBIS Gold-nominated progeny of stallions entered in the VOBIS Sires program will be eligible, with winning owners to receive $30,000 in VOBIS Sires Boost vouchers along with the existing $20,000 VOBIS Gold cash bonus on each of the 250 races.

The vouchers can be put towards purchasing the progeny of a VOBIS Sires stallion at an eligible sale or via an approved syndicator; or it can be used to pay for the service fee of a VOBIS Sires stallion.

VOBIS Sires Boost vouchers are allocated to named owners and aligned with prizemoney distribution according to ownership percentages.

Owners will be given a maximum of two years from the time the VOBIS Sires Boost voucher is allocated to redeem it, which may occur in a partial, single or multiple transactions up to the value of the vouchers held.

Throughout August, VOBIS Sires Boost vouchers will be offered at designated races at Geelong (3, 12 and 18 August), Ladbrokes Park (10 August), Bendigo (14 August), Ballarat (19 August), Sale (21 August), Pakenham (26 August) and Warracknabeal (27 August).

The addition of VOBIS Sires Boost will see the VOBIS program offer more than $30.5 million in prizemoney and bonuses across the 2022-23 season in a major fillip for the Victorian racing and breeding industries.

The VOBIS Sires program is headlined by the $1 million VOBIS Sires Showdown (1200m 2YO) and the $500,000 VOBIS Sires Guineas (1600m 3YO), both of which feature on Victorian Owners and Breeders Raceday each April.

For a current list of eligible VOBIS Sires, which include Victoria’s most popular stallions Toronado, standing at Swettenham Stud, Shamus Award (Rosemont Stud) and Nicconi (Widden), the sire of sprinting superstar Nature Strip, please visit vobissires.com.au.
